Tea loves time

Gong Fu Brewing as a method for education and conversation
Artistic Workshop
Free
Gong Fu tea brewing as a method and a tool for education will elevate your experience of brewing and drinking tea, no doubt.
The host of the workshop, Jan Glöckner, is a researcher in Artistic Biotechnology who developed this method while searching for engaging exchange of knowledge in the doctoral research that bridges arts and sciences. This workshop has already been presented in universities, art venues, festivals and even in the educational program of Documenta 15.
During the workshop, participants will have the opportunity to explore the diverse and expansive field of biotechnology through the cup of tea. Participants will brew tea in the Gung Fu style – a cultural technique aimed at extracting the best flavor from the leaves at hand. This process allows to experience the principles of physics and biochemistry through taste and aroma, providing an opportunity to understand biotechnology through own senses.
The goal of the workshop is to reveal that the human body is already a precise biotechnological tool that can be methodically applied in research. By tracing the history of biotechnological innovations – from tea cultivation to modern preparation techniques – participants will develop a general understanding of biotechnology. The practical part of the workshop invites participants to try brewing tea themselves, thus the session becomes a unique experience combining theoretical knowledge and hands-on practice.
